The Sundance Archive Engine is a self contained near-line archive that interfaces with Sundance Titan™or FastBreak® NXT Automation™.

The hardware is an Avid built, 16 drive storage chassis. The unit features One Terabyte SATA drives and a hardware RAID controller. The standard configuration is a 15 drive RAID 5 set with one hot spare. Usable storage is 13Tb with 1Tb drives and 6.37Tb with 500Gb drives. Other RAID configurations are supported. External connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet. The unit features a server class motherboard, mirrored system drives and triple power supplies.

The Archive Engine operating system is Microsoft Windows Server 2003. The application software is a combination of SGL FlashNet content archive & storage management and the Sundance Archive Manager.

The Archive Engine integrates with Sundance Automation systems, providing managed near-line storage for all popular broadcast video servers.

The Sundance Archive Manager application manages media on the server and the archive, deciding which clips should be sent to or retrieved from the Archive Engine. The powerful SQL-based databases in Sundance Digital applications give the user a great deal of flexibility in making archiving decisions. It communicates with the SGL archive software to issue pull, send and delete requests to the engine.
